Failed

More time has lapsed between blog posts than I’d like, but it’s been a busy few days! I got my spring seeds planted, spray painted my doorknobs from Habitat for Humanity and started a new art project that I’ve come to realize won’t be finished for a while. I’m hoping to complete the doorknob project and post pictures in the next couple of days so you guys can see what I came up with! In the meantime, I’ll tell you about tonight’s dinner, which smelled amazing and tasted … well, it was edible. That’s pretty much all it had going for it though 🙁

Failed FishI decided on my way home from work that I’d make parmesan crusted tilapia. I wanted to try frying it since I have very little experience frying anything. I made a dish of whisked egg and soy milk (sadly, I can’t drink cow’s milk), a dish of seasoned flour and a third dish of italian style breadcrumbs mixed with parmesan flakes. I heated the oil, double dredged the fish and fried it about 5 minutes per side. It smelled and looked delicious and I was excited that it was looking so yummy. Unfortunately, the final product was flavorless.  Luckily I made wild rice and chopped fresh pineapple to go with it because otherwise we would have been left with a bland chunk of crusty fish to choke down. This recipe is definitely a fail and trust me, you don’t want me to share the details! On the plus side, I didn’t burn it 😉

So, all the great cooks out there, do you have any tips? Please, for the sake of my taste buds, do share!
