If you follow me on Instagram, or caught the mention in this post, you already know we recently installed sod. I’m planning a post for the how-to, but in the meantime, I’ve been inspired to totally overhaul our yard to create an oasis to escape to. When it isn’t sweltering outside, that is. We’ve been […]

I snapped this photo the other afternoon when the heat if the day was shifting to cool. I was just sitting out back, minding my own business, admiring our new grass and planning my next steps in creating an outdoor oasis (right at the start of our sweltering summer no less!). Here comes Jonesie, saunters […]

Hey guys! How was your weekend? We had a nice, relaxing one finally. It was so lovely! If you aren’t up to speed on the gist of why I blog, check out this post. I have to say, I’m so confounded by people who don’t enjoy reading! I.must.consume.all.the.words. I grew up reading books, then magazines as a teenager. […]

Let’s get straight to it: I love, love, love to write. Insert crazy wild-eyed love heart emoji here. A little blurb there, journaling here, even work writing crap. I am happiest when I’m slapping words down somewhere, anywhere, everywhere. And so blogging it is. This is the short answer to why I blog. The long answer? Well, grab […]

I always thought it was cool that my name had a z in it. That was why I always signed my first and middle name when I was younger. I could never really write very good though. Forming paragraphs was just hard for me. I think it’s kinda like speaking. I’m not very good at that either. I’m kinda awkward 😄 I love you and am glad you are writing again. I enjoy reading it!ReplyCancel

We planted sod a few weeks ago and with the insane amount of water we’ve had to douse it with, these little suckers popped up.  Mushrooms! Mushrooms everywhere! We’ve pulled at least a  gallon of them, no joke! But it’s worth it for how much we love our new grass. And besides, mushrooms make great photo […]

A while back, I read something somewhere that said the most successful people are those who stick to a regular routine. Having a set schedule eliminates the need to make decisions, creating space in your head to come up with brilliant ideas. Or something like that… Anyway, the details are less important than the […]

Oh Jonesie… You slay me with those eyes and your jowls hanging out on the floor! Mr. Mr. is two now, pretty sure. Being a rescue, it’s hard to tell. We celebrate his adoption/homecoming date instead, which is in July. But he’s essentially a teenager in dog years, so there’s that. He learned he can […]

Do you ever feel like weekends are more work than the work-week? I remember as a fresh new adult, when my favorite older co-worker commented that weekends were so much more stressful than working all week, and I couldn’t understand at the time what she meant. BUT. Now I’m a full-fledged, totally in it adult. […]

Aaaaand another one from our recent camping trip! This one taken with the Canon and edited for exposure in PSE. I was taking some close-ups on the forest floor, and then turned to the sky without thinking about adjusting my settings. Smart, huh? A quick select in PSE to capture the trees, then a brightening, […]

Oh, hey! You don’t even know. It’s been something else around here lately, and as I explained here, not in all the good ways. In trying to keep positive, Joe and I went on a date night a few weeks ago to lighten the mood. I decided to treat him to a restaurant I’d heard […]
