Planning Our Pumpkin Party: Six Months Out (Part One)

I know, I know, it’s a little early to be thinking about Halloween! But if I don’t start now, I’ll get overwhelmed and won’t finish everything that I want to do.  Every October, we host our Annual Pumpkin Party for all of our friends and family.  It’s a huge celebration of all things Autumn, and it seems to get bigger and better with each passing year.  Because it’s such a hit, and so much work, I start getting ideas together at least six months in advance so I can shop for things when they go on sale, prep or build any crafts or props that need to be done and organize any help I can get.  The Pumpkin Party brings out the best costumes and pumpkin carving from all of our loved ones.  They really step it up!

This is the first post of a three-part blog series for my Pumpkin Party planning process at the six month mark.  The first thing I do to plan the Pumpkin Party is look at pictures from years past to remember the costumes, pumpkin carving and decorating schemes to help me remember what worked and what didn’t.  This also inspires me to try new things for the next party, and gets the wheels turing for ideas.  Once I have all that fresh in my head, I can start planning the party for the current year.  I’m already so excited!
