grateful for this life

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving – we sure did! We started the day out with brunch at my sister’s house with all my side of the family.  Our niece, Mercy, turned five on Thanksgiving day, so it was fun to celebrate her birthday on the day we all give thanks for family, food and togetherness.  She had a great time opening presents and playing with her cousins.

After brunch, Joe and I headed out to Rim Country to camp for the rest of the weekend.  In other words, we went just past Payson, Arizona and short of Heber.  I’ve never camped in the cold and we were both a little nervous about it.  Joe stocked up on sleeping bags, sleeping mats, a new air mattress, hand warmers, extra hats, snow suits and jackets.  When we got to the area we’d be camping in and saw three inches of snow on the ground, we decided to head back down the mountain a little ways where there was less of the white stuff.  Thank goodness we did, because we were COLD! Our sleeping tent was nice and cozy by the time we were all snuggled in bed though, so I definitely appreciated that.  We opted to set up a second tent to cook in, and that turned out to be a great idea.  The “kitchen” got really comfortable during meal times.

Collecting Fire Wood

Joe collected so much firewood that we had enough to bring some of it home with us ~                     it smells SO good!

OH! And before we headed out to camp, we went and got us a new fancy schmancy camera to play with over the weekend.  I convinced Joe we should skip buying each other Christmas presents and instead get a nice camera.  Of course I let him play with it the whole time we were camping, because little did he know that baby is mine now that we are home! hehe Just kidding.  But I’m super excited to get some nicer pictures up on the blog 😉 Here are some of the shots we got over Thanksgiving weekend.  But before I go, I want to say a special THANK YOU to all the people following along on this little site.  I am grateful for all of you!
