weekend in seattle: chihuly garden and glass

Weekend in Seattle Chihuly Garden and Glass paintedposies.com

Hi people! How are you? Did you have a good weekend? Ours was great as always – busy but not too hectic. I wanted to do a special post just for the Chihuly Glass and Garden exhibit we went to on our weekend trip to Seattle last month. SO much gorgeous art to look at, and while I’m not necessarily into glass works per se, this museum definitely made me a fan!

I couldn’t believe how insane the displays were, and after watching their glass blowing demonstration, I was so much more than impressed. The incredible amount of expertise, effort and time that goes into making a piece of glass art blew my mind! Some photos I took:

So this demonstration we watched was out of a repurposed airstream trailer, and the three dudes putting on the show walked around each other with molten blobs of glass on long metal sticks like it was no big deal. After observing for about half an hour we moved on, and they were only maybe halfway done. I mean, the sheer talent and confidence this type of art requires is mind boggling!

Since I didn’t bring the good camera with us on this trip for fear of rain, I was pretty bummed with the lack of precipitation all weekend. Imagine how good these shots could have been had they not been taken with an iPhone… Live and learn, I guess. Stay tuned for the final installment of our Seattle experience! Obviously, I’d love to know if you’ve been to the Chihuly Garden and Glass exhibit yourself, and what you thought 🙂

xoxo, amy
