Heya, how was your weekend? I have a case of “I freaking hate Mondays,” but the last two days were pretty fantastic so I’ll keep my griping to a minimum. I’ve been meaning to share these photos with you from when we went to the Tempe Improv a couple weekends ago. Joe won tickets and wanted to take his dad to the show, so that’s just what we did. Adam Ferrara was the headliner, and apparently he’s famous (Nurse Jackie and Rescue Me). I’d never heard of him, but he’s pretty funny! So were the opening acts, especially the dude right before Adam, but of course I forgot his name because I’m good like that. At any rate, here are some pictures from the venue, taken with my iPhone (so yea, they could be better).
So here’s the thing about the Tempe Improv (and the other comedy venue we’ve been to in Phoenix) is that there is a two drink minimum to watch the show. Whether the admission is won or paid, there’s still that minimum. A bottle of water is $7. And it’s not real big. Same with soda. Of course we opted for the “drink of the day,” which turned out to be $15. Each. Not that they advertise that or anything. So yea. It’s a little pricey. They were damn good drinks, but it took a while to get them because there was one bartender for the whole place and it was packed! The tiny tables are in rows with chairs crammed right next to each other, so it was straight up tight in there. We ordered fish tacos to share, there are three to an order, and the pretzel sticks with cheese. They were just “eh.” Obviously, we weren’t there for the food or drinks, and the show itself kept us laughing our booties off. It was a good night and we enjoyed ourselves! I’m glad we know what to expect if we go again, and figured you might appreciate the info if you’re in the area and want to check it out for yourself. Here’s a link!
