Pot Rack to Pretty

I hope everyone had a great Superbowl Sunday! I know we did, spending time with my husband’s family, watching the game and laughing at commercials.  I’m sure everyone is Superbowled out, so I’m going to move right along.  While searching for a screwdriver in the pile of chaos said husband calls tools, I came across some leftover links from hanging our pot rack years ago.  Inspired by a t-shirt flower making tutorial on Pinterest, I decided to make a new accessory. Because that train of thought makes a lot of sense, right?

So, here’s how it all went down:

Flower Pattern

Necklace Supplies

First, I created a template of a flower using the chain as a guide on how big I wanted it to be.  Next, I gathered my supplies: fabric glue, ribbon, an old t-shirt, a felt circle, scissors, matching buttons, needle, thread, and my hot glue gun for when the fabric glue failed. (Note: I did not end up using the brown ribbon)

After cutting 16 flowers using my pattern, I folded them in half and then in half again and glued them to the felt circle.  On each row, alternate the petals so that they are not stacked one on top of each other but rather staggered so that the seams aren’t visible.

Finished Flower

Once the petals were all in place, I sewed my buttons on the center of the flower.  Then I tied ribbon to each end of the chain and hot glued the flower on where I liked it.

Flower Necklace

I may embellish the chain at a later time, but I like the contrast of the hard chain with the soft flower and ribbon.  I think this would be really cute worn with a white t-shirt and jeans.  Here is a link to the original tutorial I found on Pinterest:
