Hello fine people, how was your weekend? We’ve been enjoying lots of really great time off recently, thank goodness. We skipped the OB trip for the 4th this year, and decided to take the time off and staycation instead.  It was lovely to have 5 days off to do whatever the heck we wanted without a six hour drive. I’m not gonna lie, we missed the beach something fierce. BUT. We made the most of our holiday break with some family time, lounging about, hanging with friends and enjoying a romantic staycation at The Talking Stick Resort and Orange Sky Restaurant. Let’s not talk about what a fortune it cost, though, OK? >,< We’ll just peek at some shady phone snaps, instead, OK?

We’ve been to The Talking Stick casino many times, but have never stayed in the hotel. We were pleased with our room and the amenities: comfy, clean, smelled good. Check, check, check. Kinda boring, actually, huh? The pool party is quite the show, though. Have you been? They have a DJ, dancing, lots of booze and plenty of drunk people to watch. We sat poolside with our toes dipped in the water, just enjoying the crazy live entertainment before dinner.

I made reservations at the Orange Sky Restaurant on the 14th floor during sunset. The view = amazing. We really enjoyed our dinner, the ambiance, and the staff. Definitely a splurge, but well worth it. We had the Nosh Board and a bottle of red to share while we watched the sun sink into the horizon and turn the sky orange. Joe ordered the Tenderloin, while I had Georges Bank Diver Scallops. We got the roasted sweet potato dish to share. De.lic.ious. We gobbled up our meal and enjoyed the sky show, making a point to cherish the moment and wander outside from time to time.

We ended the night losing money at Blackjack and penny slots. Seriously. Does anyone understand this penny slot thing with all the lines and multiple bets and lining up random weird icons? We sure don’t! But we had a good time rooting each other on, so there’s that, right?
